Ditch the plastic. Here is the perfect straw option that is both good for people and safe for the planet.

Our bamboo straws tell the story of a woman named Janet and two teenage boys in Jacmel, Haiti. Janet is the incredible owner of a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in southern Haiti, called Chic Chateau (when you are in Haiti, you have got to stay there — at least for one night!).
When the two boys came to her in need of financial help to go to school, she encouraged them to think of something they could make or do to raise the needed money. After some thought and help from Janet, they turned their bamboo straws into a business, called the "Chapichou Boys Collective," and raised the needed funds for school in no time and in the mean time, developed a craft that will sustain them and others for the next years.

We use them and love them (for water, smoothies, iced coffee), but want you to know you know they are not food safe certified. They have come directly from bamboo trees in the mountains of Haiti. To wash, we use hot water and soap and a straw brush. They are not dish-waster safe.
